Jurassic World (Movie)

Everyone know and watched Jurassic Park movies because they like dinosaurs, including me who has that kind of obsession since when i was 5 y.o or so. I have a Jurassic Park Manga until some unknown circumstance loses it and i'm still bitter about it. Anyway, i happen to miss the not-so-recent-anymore Jurassic World (2015) that's made Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment. Thus i watch it now hoping to relief my aforementioned lost and also for missing the second Jurassic World movie.
It's alive! It's alive! Muahahahaha! Ehm. Sorry! The movie begins with some little dinosaurs hatch from their egg. I assume most of them are Velociraptor that means not so good. But again, every Jurassic Park movie is all about dinosaurs ruckus and this one is no exception. I watch all of them for dinosaurs and i bet everyone thinks the same. I mean no one is primarily motivated to watch Jurassic Park to see Jeff Goldblum or anyone else. Though i may be wrong.

Then the movie shift to this kid who's watching that slide show camera. It contains dinosaurs pictures and he owns lots of dinosaurs toy figure at the back so he's definitely  dinosaurs enthusiast like me. But when i was his age, i don't own mini projector like that. :C
Then his mother bring him to outside of their home and there's happen to be teen couple near the front door. Hah! Gombal! [translate: What a rag (drama)!] Soon the boyfriend get into the car along with the dinosaurs-fans boy assuming that he's his older brother. The mother tease him a bit by asking is he okay (to be away from his girlfriend) and his young brother giggles a bit.

Then the parents take their kids to an airport. The mother gives them Jurassic World tickets and later saying "If something chase you, run!". Not so subtle foreshadowing.

From small airplane next they move to hi-class cruiser. I take screenshot at perfect moment where the boy and lady behinds him make a quite similar grinning expression. This is slightly unsettling to me.

Wow! Look at that! They have gone through a lot. I remember in the first JP, they handle the transportation with electric car and now they use monorail train! To be fair, the first park is still "prototype" and never been open to public. This one is definitely more successful and open to public, signifying this what Jurassic Park supposed to be. I hope there's no "other" Dennis Nedry within management of this park, that will ruins the day.

This is kind of example of "Gadget addiction" phenomena. Zach (The big brother) is probably texting his girlfriend while lady over there (who's their guide) twiddle whatever on her hand. Gray (The small brother) rush into terrace to see scenery. He's the most sensible ones.
The movie switches perspective to a lady named Claire, guides investors into a laboratory. In the middle of her announcement about new dinosaurs, Dr. Henry Wu interrupts to say the detail more. He still get small playtime but at least he looks better/charismatic than in first JP movie.
Then we get to see the inside of visitor center. Hologram projection, info touchscreen panel and this what i can best describe as archeologist simulation for kids. Look at them! They want to be like Dr. Alan Grant. How cute!

At the visitor center, Zach and Gray meet Claire (their aunt). They're glad to meet her but they're disappointed that she won't come with them. At least they got some special invitation there.

Claire keeps busy with her work after that. She inspects this monitoring room. She complaint about some section got closed because there's sick dinosaur that's being treated. This guy says that dinosaurs are living being not just asset. Then she complaint about this guy's desk is so mess, and also full of dino toys. Not only she's workaholic but also lack of regard toward human and dinosaurs, just like your typical capitalist jerk.

Then she travels to the new dino's paddock. It seems she's afraid of flight/height, explaining her awkward shock expression there. The man on the right is the pilot and happen to be the park manager himself. He said that "The key to happy life is to accept that you never actually in control" when she told him to focus on piloting the chopper. Wise word but you should be pilot the thing with care. Otherwise, there will be accident news on the park that makes the guest uneasy, you see.

Speaking of control, there's crack on mirror on control room of said paddock which certainly looks bad.

Meanwhile, Chris Pratt who once Star Lord is now a raptor handler. The raptors were chasing a pig then Chris tell them to stop and stopping they are. Then he assess their time and amazingly he can address them by name even though they all look quite same. After that, he give them treat one by one.

Amazed by Chris's skill, this bearded guy says an idea of making dinosaurs as weapon instead of  for (what he says as) petting zoo like now. Chris response is they're dangerous animal that can't be fully controlled. I agree with him besides that bearded guy has mind of Umbrella's executive for sure.

While try to retrieve the pig that got snatched one of the raptor, this dorky-looking dino taker fall down to inside of the pen. Soldier_negativevocalization04.wav

No way i'm going to pass on capturing this moment that later become "Prattkeeping" meme. Chris holds the raptors by extending his arms and keep giving them suggestion not to attack while the dorky animal taker can escape. Later he ask someone to start to close the cage's gate. When the gate is almost closed, he roll pass it then the raptors charge but got blocked by the gate. Spy_cheers08.wav

The movie then switches perspective (again). Oh, man! I want to ride adorable Triceratops kid like that. I'm really jealous to those children. >:)

With their guide (Claire's assistant) busy, Zach and Gray can sneak into T-Rex feeding section. The announcer said that "Some people may faint watch this show". No kidding. This is like that part on first movie except in broad daylight and (sadly) there's no goat leg thrown to glass.
At her office, Karen (the sibling's mother) phones Claire to know how they're doing. She turns really sad knowing that they're not with Claire. "It was supposed to be family reunion" she says while her tear come out. Claire is bad with familial stuff. Shame on her. -_-
Back then, Claire on her way to Owen's (Chris Pratt) place. She ask her about to see the new dino's pen. Chris said that he's busy repair his motorcycle while drinking a bottle of Coca Cola™. He also brings out how their relation isn't well but later he agrees to go.

Meanwhile Zach and Gray watching giant Mosasaurus eat a shark. Eat your heart out, Jaws!

Once Chris and Claire inside of control room of the paddock, The dinosaurs won't come out even though a goat is presented. Then Claire initiate thermal detector on over the paddock and the result is negative. It's not here anymore. There's  claw mark on nearby wall marking. That means it escapes by climbing the wall.

Claire goes back to report this shocking event while Chris investigate the claw mark further. On her way she ask monitoring staff to track the dino down using GPS tracker somewhere on its body. Turns out, it's still in the paddock. That means Chris and staffs there is in big trouble. It begs question how a gigantic dinosaurs can fool both surveillance camera and heat detector? Don't tell me that it copies what Arnold Schwarzenegger do in first Predator movie to avoid predator's detection by dunking itself with mud.
At first i thought the fat staff is the first victim due to -say- his inappropriate physic to run fast but no it was the guy in white helmet who get eaten first and also he managed to escape the paddock and later hide in front of the car. But soon The dinosaurs flips it and soon eat the fat bloke. Meanwhile Chris manage to hide in the bottom of a car, cut its gasoline hose, and spray himself with gasoline. The dinosaurs can't smell Chris because of that. Quite makes sense. It probably think it's only car with leaked gasoline.

Knowing that Dominus Rex (the new dinosaurs who's the result of genetic crossing between Tyrannosaurs Rex's DNA and others) escapes, a team is dispatched to encounter it with non-lethal arsenal as opposed to what Chris suggests: using "living" ammunition. Not only it's wild and very vicious but also unnaturally smart as it knows about tracking implant on it and remove it. I'm more accepting if the tracking device is in shape of bracelet or necklace like what we have right now. But tracking implant on very flesh is 1) high-level animal cruelty 2) hard to remove by the subject itself without hurting self very bad. It's really beyond me.

(Un-)naturally, Dominus Rex using said piece of its flesh as lure for the squad. It also has the capability to camouflage and ambushes the squad's leader. You may think that from this screenshot that he will get eaten immediately but turns out he's dead by stomping Funny thing is there's no blood/meat splash upon being stomped. It's cleanest case of stomping in history of movie.
Of course the team got obliterated and forced to retreat. This guy has shotgun that i assume is the only lethal weapon that they have, move forward alone to engage with Dominus Rex. This may seems idiotic reckless move but he tries to buy some time for his comrade to retreat. This is exemplary tanking act. I salute you, good sir!

After watched the tragic fate of the security squad in monitoring room, Chris suggests that they should evacuate the island but got rebuked (although they do that). He talks to manager that Dominus Rex isn't dinosaurs but monster and questioning it to who creates it. So the manager talks to Dr. Wu about it. Turns out Dominus Rex can deceive the thermal detector because it has tree frog's DNA not by adopting what it saw in Predator movie :p.
I can tell that Dr. Wu is nice person because he talks in mild tone most of the time and he serves tea for both of them. By the way, the color of tea is matched with red tea that i always drink in office. He's quite trustworthy to me, then.

Meanwhile the sibling is in Gyroscope where they can see these herbivore dinosaurs at their own leisure. You know why they use car on designated path in first JP? The answer is simple: it's safe. Not only the road is relatively secured but also the driver must be responsible adult. Compare that to this, this is certainly violate common safety standard. The kids drive the vehicle at their own whim with the risk of being trampled or rammed by this giants. Lucky enough that they are minding their own business with some occasion seeing the moving orb that contain human in manner of pedestrian toward the homeless.
Later on, they venture into prohibited area while they're instructed to go back (due to Dominus Rex's escape). See? This is why you don't give young tourists vehicle on their own. They can see Ankylosuruses and Dominus Rex herself (Yes, it's she) while they're rolling around like pinball's ball bouncing between either tree or Ankylosurus. That will teach them to obey instruction.

One of Ankylosurus fight Dominus Rex but she's smart enough to overturn it and gnaw it. The kids manage to escape by jumping to waterfall and Dominus Rex can only see at the river in disappointment as if saying "Oh, man! I hate wet food".

Meanwhile Claire and Chris come to the wilderness hoping to pick the kids. They find lots of Brachiosaurus that have been murdered by Dominus Rex. Judging by how their body still relatively intact, Chris concludes that she killed them not for food but for hunting game. What a bastard monster!
Hoskin (the bearded guy) saw this accident as opportunity for who-know-but-him reason. He called this guys to the beach of the island. I though i never saw those amphibious ship in this age.
Meanwhile, the kids enter some abandoned old building. Zach picks up ragged old banner of "When Dinosaurs Ruled The Earth". Yep! This is the old visitor building.
Hoskin barges into monitoring room and press the manager to leave this problem to Ingen and releasing the velociraptors to hunt Dominus Rex. But the manager has other solution: install Gatling gun on chopper and he will pilot it himself.

The kids find old Jeep Wrangler Sahara. Zach seems to know how to work around car and manage to repair this old car with the help of his brother and Dominus Rex that has wrecked someone's jeep outside so he can use its accumulator battery to replace with the old ones here. Then Zach drives to civilization even though he's not yet pass driving test.
Chris and Claire arrive too late to pick up the kids. To put salt on open wound, Dominus Rex attacks them. But they manage to outrun her thanks to her being distracted by the chopper.

Did you ever see in any movie where someone can avoid barrage from Gatling gun harmlessly? That's what happen in here too. I kind of understand if your target is human-size. But Dominus Rex is Tyrannosaurus-size for God's sake! How can you not even hit the goddamn giant Dinosaurs with the best man-made bullet sprayer, huh? Anyway, she break into gigantic dome where they keep all the flying dinosaurs and naturally they're flying away. They do her a favor by attacking the chopper. The crews are killed while the manager stubbornly stay in broken chopper and plummet to the dome. Dead.
The tragedy doesn't stop there. The flying dinos are attacking anyone in center part of the park including Claire's assistant right after the kids return safely. Those flying sod toying with her by throwing her at the giant pool and repeatedly swipe her underwater. Finally she (along with one of them) get eaten Mosasaurus. Who told them to play around in the giant pool, anyway?
Security squad along with Chris and Claire come to deal with these flying sods. Some of them get Chris in the back but later Claire save him and they kiss....in the middle of this damned chaos and the kids watch them about 5 meters (16.4 feet) from them. Really, now?
Because manager is passed away and the situation is worsening, Hoskin takes control of security measure. He call Ingen squad with real gun and such. On their way via chopper, one of them shoot down a Dimorphodon that flies peacefully. What a jerk! >:c
Chris back to Velociraptor's paddock and give Hoskin swift punch knowing that he will use those 4 Velociraptors to hunt down Dominus Rex. But he has no choice to cooperate with Hoskin's crazy plan. At least with Chris's involvement, the raptor's safety will be more assured. Maybe. The reason why Hoskin involving the raptors is to make a heroic story about them that probably boost Park's name or something like that.

With ATV, Chris move along with the raptors "acting" as their alpha. Meanwhile, Claire and the kids are in veterinary car watching the hunt from Ipad or something. It show view from many camera including the one that set on each raptor's head. Grey says that Claire's boyfriend is badass while riding in middle of raptor. I absolutely agree with that.
The raptors find Dominus Rex. After that she talk with one of them. Chris suspects that she has Velociraptor's DNA thus kind of explaining why she can communicate with them. All of sudden, The Velociraptors turn back against human. "They got new Alpha!" Chris shouts.

Even though they're fully armed and armored, the Ingen squad either got obliterated by the raptors or escaping. Including that bearded jerk who shot Dimorphodon. What a bunch of wuss! They clearly don't get special training to fight these swift predators, in my opinion. For instance, they make the usual formation of 4 unit in a line: front man watch over front, back man watch over back, middle men watch leftside and/or rightside. That still leave them vulnerable as i watch a raptor strike someone in the back on center of formation like really fast in straight line. They should make full circle formation: back-to-back among each other. But there's 2 occasion where they manage to launch rocket to: 1) injure the Dominus Rex as the it didn't hit accurately 2) Kill 1 raptor that pauses to see Chris and make him flying in process but he's okay.

There's one raptor that after the veterinary car so Claire have to hit the gas. Oh, no! The kids forget to lock the door. But luckily, they manage to fend off the raptor with stun rod that happened to be next to them. Some raptor give them another chase but got rammed from the sides by Claire. Later Chris catch up on them and suggest they have to move to indoor.

Meanwhile in monitoring room, everyone is on total evacuation except Larry (the guy that have lots of dino toys on his desk). He says "Someone should stay behind" and proceed to embrace his lady friend here. But he stops him and says "I have boyfriend" thus ruining the romantic mood. But later she agree for friendship hug.

Turns out Dr. Wu collaborates with Hoskin. He move to Ingen along with Dino's embryos. This treacherous act may seem selfish but to me it's sensible. He just want to continue his research, afterall.
Speaking of Hoskin, he's killed by one the raptor inside Hammond Lab. He still thinking that he can tame it but no. It bites his hand and proceed to gnaw his body. He deserves that.
The protagonists run away from the raptor. Grey swiftly turns on Dilophosaurus hologram to buy them time. I love how the raptor think that the hologram is real until he tries to bite it with no avail.

But later the protagonist is surrounded by the raptors. Chris doesn't fight them with his trusty Winchester gun. Instead he slowly releases camera on one of the raptor. The raptors are on Chris's side again but not regarding him as Alpha but more like friend. Maybe.
Later on, Dominus Rex comes. After bit velociraptor talk, they're convince not to help her again. Suddenly one of them got slapped by her. Thus fighting between raptor and Dominus Rex happens. Oh! And Chris helps too, i forgot. Things for sure is: here's epic battle between raptors and their tamer against one giant dinosaurs with mixture of various DNA. One raptor is thrown into grill and exploded and another one get bitten by the titan. The battle seems work in Dominus Rex' favor.

While the battle ensues, Claire and the kids hide at souvenir kiosk. Grey suggests that they need more teeth. Claire grabs flare stick and walkie talkie at nearby emergency box and runs to Paddock number 9.  Later she asks Larry to open it and it contain the legendary T-Rex! Claire lures him with flare stick and rush to the battlefield. There's an excerpt of JP theme plays here.

Claire throw the stick at Dominus Rex just in time when Grey almost get dragged by her. Thus triggering a battle between these 2 carnivorous giants. Lucky for the protagonists, Dominus Rex doesn't try to talk to the old Rex-y to convince him to be on his side instead engaging him at quite instant. Maybe it's related to pride of the giant predator or what have you.

T-Rex got pinned down by his mutated relative. But the one and only remaining raptor attack her so Rex-y can break free. Later Rex-y and raptor team up to fight Dominus Rex. This is the closest thing to Tag Team battle of Dinosaurs. Medic_positivevocalization02.wav

Finally, Dominus Rex get flung to fence of pool and cornered. While she roars at raptor and T-Rex, she didn't notice Mosasaurus jumps at her from behind. She later get bitten and dragged to pool by the aquatic bastard. No matter how enhanced your genetic, you can't win against aquatic titan that is thrice your size while you're drowned. Dominus Rex won't dominate anything else anymore. R.I.P (Rest in Pool) Dominus Rex. You may think why Mosasaurus help raptor and T-Rex. I think that's because she knocks the fence awakening him and he's up for dinner (due to total evacuation, no one feed him). Imagine if you're in the middle of the night while holding your hunger, then a food knocks your room door. You will immediately eat it, right? That's sensible comparison, isn't it?

Now that the battle is over. T-Rex walks away after bit "conversation" with raptor. And raptor does that too after take a glance at Chris. The crisis is over.

As there's no need to control the monitoring room anymore, Larry shutdowns it. He looks awesome and charismatic doing so. I like him a lot besides Chris Pratt.

Next day, the survivors are in refugee shelter at somewhere (probably within Costa Rica's territory). Zach and Gray can meet with their parent and given lovely embrace. Claire also got one from Karen, their mom. Everyone is happy and relieved.
Claire asks to Chris "What are we going to do?"
Chris replies "Probably, stick together for survival"
Are they going to job hunting together? Duh! Of course, not. They will retake the park from as hinted by the sequel. After that dialogue, they slowly walk to outside of the shelter while the path is as clear as cloudless sky in time when all birds go extinct even though this place is very crowded. Then the perspective changes to T-Rex walk into a scenery then roars.
Second and third JP movie are about wild adventure in Dino land. While, Jurassic World (2015) is like first JP movie where dino zoo goes chaotic with more human victim and caused by 1 real monstrous dinosaurs. Oh and Mosasaurus involves too. He's the new star and i really like him. It also with more screenplay for Dr. Wu, good for him. The nuance of how jurassic park supposed to be, is nice change from other JP movie. Chris as raptor expert is good enough to replace Dr. Alan Grant or Ian Malcolm as main protagonist. Moreover he looks more badass/badblood to me. So i can say that he's better than those two. There's bit of unimportant detail such as Zach's and Gray's parent are about to divorce or Zach is being flirty to female teens. Apart from that and how non-sense Dominus Rex is, i still can say that this movie is good. Though i don't think i heard the JP theme full version (composed by John Williams) here which is kind of shame.
I bet you have watched Jurassic World (2015). If you haven't, watch at least once. It's fun. It has human coop with Dino to fight evil dino and small dino riding attraction. What else do you want? The original music? Well, maybe you can sing it while watching the movie. I do that sometimes.
